Would you like to add a new set of skills to your arsenal? Are you curious about brioche knitting, which produces a lofty and soft fabric with lots of texture? Two color-brioche knitting gets a lot of love and I just couldn’t wait to knit this motif again.
This knit is a reversible and elegant design. Set off your favorite colorful or variegated yarn on one side with contrasting background color on the other side. The result is like two different shawls because the fabric is completely reversible. It’s a lovely modern shawl, and is an interesting and pleasant knit that is sure to be a staple in your wardrobe. Perfect for your next cold day adventure, it is as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear. Dress to impress!

„Reisi“ means travel in Estonian, and the Reisi Shawl uses the same motif as my Tourist Shawl. Why have I used this name? I feel they are related as my patterns tell the story of my journey through life. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am going to beat this as I still have so many adventures awaiting me! You might be wondering why I’m telling you about this. I read an article on breast cancer that had a huge impact on me and made me inspect my breasts for lumps. The article was upbeat and focused on staying positive. I want to take this opportunity to say to all of you „check your breasts regularly!“

The Reisi Shawl is a classic top-down shawl, which is worked in one piece and consists of 2 identical triangle sections, with increases in the center as well as long the side edges. For brioche newbies, the Reisi Shawl could be your first brioche shawl, as the pattern is filled with detailed explanations and lots of video links that show all the stitches and helpful hints. It’s also pleasant to knit since there is no need to count the stitches on every row.
The Reisi Shawl will look great in most yarn weights. Gauge is not so crucial for this design, but if yours differs from the pattern gauge, the dimensions of your shawl will be different as well. The pictured shawl was made with DK weight yarn, but it can easily be worked in worsted, aran, sport or even lace weight yarn. Your shawl size depends on how many pattern repeats you do. The shawl featured here in the pattern has 7 full and half leaf motifs down the central spine counting from the top down.
