The design for this cowl came about through my fascination with the way that such a simple stitch pattern could automatically create a diagonal bias. Instead of each row sitting on top of the other, they veer off to the side, giving lines over which the eye is drawn. Adding bands of color seemed the natural choice to enhance the stitch pattern. I love the combination of the grid-like geometric texture with these soft, feminine hues.

The cowl is knitted lengthways and the stitch pattern naturally veers diagonally, creating the diagonal stripes of colour. The cast-on and cast-off edges are at an angle, forming two tessellating wedges. The angled edges are grafted together when knitting is complete.
