Remainder scarf
So named because it was designed to use remaining fingering weight yarn left from other projects, Remainder is a triangular scarf with a stocking stitch centre and a pretty lace edging. As written, it uses 135 yards (125 metres) of the first colour of yarn and 265 yards (242 metres) of the second, or it could be worked using a standard single 400 yard (100g) skein of fingering weight yarn. When worked to pattern tension of 18 sts and 34 rows over 4” (10cm) of blocked stocking stitch, the finished scarf measures 41 ½” (105cm) across the top edge and 18” (45.5cm) deep in the centre. Achieving exact tension is not vital but may affect the finished size of your scarf and your yarn yardage requirements. This is something to bear more closely in mind if you are working with limited quantities of yarn.
