Remembrance Poppy
by Katy Flynn
This pattern is
available for free.
The Remembrance Poppy was inspired around the Royal Jubilee in 2012. The poppy is crocheted from the centre with a double layer of petals. The centre has detail added once the flower shape is complete.
Gauge is not of great importance - the tension should allow the petals to be relaxed and not stiff, while the centre has enough strength to support the brooch pin once the dark centre is added.
The red Baby Cotton used is a soft cotton with good colour saturation. The dark detail is worked in Golf mercerised cotton, thereby giving a nice sheen and contrast in the centre.
