How to crochet the Remi Soap Cozy (or Small Gift Bag), a fun ripple crochet pattern perfect for pampering yourself, or gifting with a handmade bar of soap or facial scrubbies, a favor/candy pouch, or a small gift bag with a new pair of earrings.
My Remi series features fun ripple patterns worked mainly in Double Crochet stitches – there are some other stitches that help form the shape for the ripple pattern.
Crochet soap cozies are one of my favorite things to make. Currently, I have 13 crochet patterns for them, and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon!
There are two versions of this bag. I originally designed and worked a candy corn version of this bag in Lily Sugar n Cream Yarn. I later went back, and reworked the design using WeCrochet Dishie Yarn. Dishie is slightly thinner, so I altered the pattern to achieve the same size in this other yarn. It’s possible to get the same size following the original pattern with a I9/5.5mm hook, but I don’t like using this size with Dishie so that’s why I altered instead.
The link will take you to my original pattern worked in 3 colors to create a cute candy corn version. I have created a second 2 color version, which can be found on my blog here.
The PDF for this pattern is a 4 in 1. It includes instructions for working in 2 and 3 colors in Lily Sugar n Cream, and 2 and 3 colors in Dishie Yarn.
There is also a video tutorial that shows the blue and yellow version in Dishie Yarn.
Materials:
- About 65 Yards of Worsted Weight Cotton
- For the Lily Sugar n Cream Version: I used White, Yellow and Hot Orange
- For the Dishie Yarn Version: I used 20 Yards of Bumblebee, 32 Yards of Azure and 13 Yards of White
- H8/5mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends
- Optional, Jewelry Pliers
Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Bernat Handicrafter, Crafter’s Secret Cotton Yarn
Other Recommended Yarns (with I9/5.5mm Hook): Red Heart’s Super Saver, Caron’s One Pound, Bernat’s Super Value
Weaving in ends of a tough yarn, like cotton yarn, can be hard on the fingers. Sore thumbs and frustration can be a thing of the past by simply using jewelry pliers to carefully help pull the tapestry needle through the work.
Time Spent:
I had my cozy ready in about 45 minutes.
