Retreat
Retreat - there is a long tradition, particularly in Christian sectors, to go away for a while and re-center yourself. This is called a RETREAT. This poncho is a cozy garment for just such a time.
Interestingly, I made this poncho on a recent retreat where I had a chance to re-orient my life, my time, my self to enrich all around me.
Approximate circumference at hem:
- XS/Sm = 58.5 inches at hem Med/Lg = 68.25 inches at hem XL/2XL = 78.0 inches at hem
PATTERN STITCH and other NOTES
• If you want to substitute yarn for this design, please use a fluffy, loosely spun chunky/bulky yarn (acrylic or blend or all-natural); a tightly spun yarn (a 100% cotton without any “fluffing” for instance) will be too heavy for this design.
• Design is worked from the neck down, increasing slowly between cabled braids and then continuing to the broken-rib hem
• Neck rib, same for all three sizes, is a 2x2 ribbing worked in the round on the smaller sized needles
• Changing to larger sized needles to create the body of the poncho; note the directions show size XS/Small with Med/Lrg and XL/2XL in parentheses.
• Directions are charted and round-by-round.
