Revscarf
This reversible scarf began as an attempt to use up the partial skeins of Lopi that remained after making two-color owl mittens and a matching owl hat for my dad. (And sadly, there were still a few yards of yarn left after making the scarf!) I quickly realized that many lovely variants are possible, by using different weights of yarn, by using yarn with different amounts of twist, and by making the scarf different lengths. The sky’s the limit!
Instructions are given for three different yarn weights (bulky, worsted, and DK), two different widths (4’’ and 8’’), and two different lengths (18’’ and 45’’). The length can be modified easily. For the short skinny bulky and worsted variants, instructions are given to add buttons (and buttonholes).
The only stitches you need to know for making this scarf are knit and purl. All other instructions are given within the pattern.
The scarf’s texture was inspired by Lynne Barr’s embossed stitch (#34 in Reversible Knitting), and has been modified to use two colors and some patterning within those colors.
It uses a bit more than twice the amount of the main color as the contrast color.
