Worked flat from side to side in main color with a slipped stitch edging. A border is added next by picking up and working stitches in a contrasting color. Corners are created by knitting mitered square-inspired diamonds in the notches formed by the long side’s borders. To better understand this scarf’s construction, an appendix including stitch charts and a diagram of the scarf’s anatomy may be found at the end of the pattern.

YARN
Spud & Chloe Fine and Stripey Fine (80% Superwash Wool / 20% Silk; 50g / 191yds /175m hanks)
• 2 skeins Stripey Fine (MC)
• 1 skein Fine (CC)
Only part (30-35g) of the contrasting color (CC) is used, but the remainder may be used to create tassels, fringe or pom poms to adorn the corners.
NOTE
This scarf is a great opportunity to use beautiful sock knitting yarn you haven’t yet found a use for. The Rhombuster’s core was designed using 100g of Spud & Chloe Stripey Fine, but the sample in the photographs featuring a neon core was knit using ~100g of some hand-dyed stash yarn and worked just as beautifully as the recommended yarn. The beauty of the border of this scarf is that it provides stability in the finished piece, which helps prevent excess stretching or curling, particularly if the yarn you’d like to showcase is delicate.
