Ribbed for Him & Her Crochet Hat

A unisex ribbed crochet beanie with a uniquely constructed bill that stands away from the face without any plastic insert, cardboard, or interfacing. The brim is worked flat in back-loop-only slip-stitch ribbing, shaped with increases up to 21 stitches then decreased back down, folded in half, and seamed. The resulting bill holds its shape from the stitchwork alone. Body is deep front-post and back-post double crochet ribbing that stretches to fit most adult heads. Fasten off at Round 4 of the crown shaping for the messy bun version, or continue to Round 5 for a closed crown.

Circumference: 20” 51 cm around at base of hat.
Stretches to fit most adult heads.

GAUGE:
16 sts by 12 rounds in body stitch pattern = 4” 10 cm by 4” 10 cm.
