This is a light and airy wrap with a rippled texture, featuring open lace accented with “ribbons” of more solid stitches. Wear it simply as an elegant day-to-evening stole, or wrap it around your neck for a fun, colorblocked scarf.

As the wrap is designed to work with a gradient yarn (Scheepjes Whirl), the simple, decorative edging on the bottom edge is worked before the body of the wrap. The top and bottom edges of the wrap are not identical, but are similar. The beads on the edging are optional.

The two sides of the wrap are distinctly different, but “right” and “wrong” sides are a matter of preference.

Skill level: Intermediate.

Finished sizes: Regular width: 14” wide by 69” long; wide width: 17” wide by 69” long. The pattern also includes instructions to alter the length of the starting chain to suit your preference.

Gauge (unblocked): One pattern rep = 1.5”; 8 rows in pattern = 3”. Gauge may narrow slightly and will lengthen with blocking and wear.

Precise gauge is not critical for this project; however, making and blocking a gauge swatch will give an idea of how much the lace will open up and grow in length and will help in choosing the desired hook size if substituting yarn.

For optional beading: 1.00 mm-1.15 mm steel or beading hook; 21 (25) size 3.5-4 mm cube seed beads with holes large enough to accommodate beading hook.

This pattern uses American crochet terminology.
