Ribbonwood Pullover
The Ribbonwood Pullover features one of my favourite cabled lace motifs that I initially developed for a triangular shawl.
The sweater begins with a provisional cast on at the back neck, which becomes perfectly invisible once all stitches are picked up to begin the body and raglan increases. Because the raglan placement is tipped towards the back when worn, this creates the high-low hem effect without having to work short rows.
The Ribbonwood motif begins at the centre front and back, and also runs sinuously down each arm. The motif then flows seamlessly into the lower body border, which is a cabled lace extravaganza – sure to set any lace lover’s heart aflutter.
Size
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) intended to be worn with 10-12 cm / 4-6 inches positive ease. Sample size illustrated is size 2 modelled with 15 cm / 6 inches positive ease.
Garment Measurements (actual garment measurements, not your measurements – choose a size larger than your measurements for a loose fit)
Bust: 87 (96.5, 105, 114, 122) cm / 34 ½ (38, 41 ½ , 45, 48) inches.
Sleeve circumference at upper arm: 36.5 (40.6, 42, 43.7, 45.7) cm / 14 ½ (16, 16 ½, 17 ¼, 18) inches.
Yarn
Union Fibre Honest sock (light fingering weight); 100% untreated Corriedale; 400 metres (437 yards) per 100 gram skein; Shade: Plum Pie. 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) x 100 gram skeins, or approx. 1255, (1380, 1512, 1649, 1808) metres / 1509 (1654, 1803, 1977) yards of light fingering weight yarn.
(If you want a garment length much more than 35.5 cm / 14 inches from the underarm to cast off edge, you will require additional yarn. As a rough estimate I worked out each inch of cabled lace would require approx. 35-46 metres of yarn.)
Gauge
To achieve a good fit it is essential to achieve gauge. You may need to change needle size between patterns to achieve gauge.
Stockinette gauge: 26 sts and 36 rows/rounds over 10 cm (4 inches) on 3.25 mm / US 3 needles after blocking.
Chart A & B gauge: 30 sts and 37 rows/rounds over 10 cm (4 inches) on 3.25 / US 3 needles after blocking.
