Ridge Lines
Part of the SongLines Collection
Ridge Lines is an asymmetrical triangle shawl/scarf shaped using short rows (no decreases). Blocking opens up the “button holes”to create a piece both airy and solid. The button-hole-type cutouts are formed by binding off and then casting on stitches during the following row. I used a backward loop cast on to avoid turning my work for each cast on segment, but you may decided to use a knit or cable cast on if preferred.
Don’t be afraid of short rows! Because this design is worked all in garter stitch you have the option of not picking up the wraps on the following rows since they will blend into the ridges of the stitch pattern. Of course, if you’d rather pick them up feel free to do so.
