Ridgeline Toque
Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.
A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!
- No Code – Full Price = $11.00 CAD
- PK10 – 10% off = $9.90 CAD
- PK20 – 20% off = $8.80 CAD
- PK30 – 30% off = $7.70 CAD
I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.
The Ridgeline Toque is a part of the Ridgeline Collection, to go along with the Ridgeline Mitts and Ridgeline Headband! The Toque is knit in the hurdle stitch for the bottom section and stockinette for the top. This pattern is knit with super bulky yarn! I used Universal Yarns Posh Alpaca. You could really use any super bulky yarn as long as you can match either gauge!
SIZES OFFERED:
Adult large: 17 in unstretched, 21-25 in head circumference
Adult medium: 16 in unstretched, 19-23 in head circumference
Adult small: 15 in unstretched, 18-22 in head circumference
Child: 14 in unstretched, 17-20 in head circumference
Toddler: 13 in unstretched, 16-19 in head circumference
6-12 M: 11 in unstretched, 14-17 in head circumference
3-6 M: 10 in unstretched, 12-15 in head circumference
Newborn: 8 in unstretched, 10-12 in head circumference
These measurements are based off of my sample piece, yours may vary slightly depending on gauge and tension. I knit the Adult Medium and I have about a 22/23 inch head. I recommend choosing a size where your head circumference is in the middle/higher end of the range for the best fit!. You are also free to modify the length of this pattern as you desire, the recommended lengths are based on the average standards.
NEEDLES REQUIRED:
US11 / 8 mm 16” circular needles
may need other size needles to meet gauge
GAUGE:
11 sts x 16 rows equals a 1x1 inch square/2.5x2.5 cm in hurdle stitch, in the round, after blocking
11 sts x 14 rows equals a 1x1 inch square/2.5x2.5 cm in stockinette stitch, in the round, after blocking
YARN REQUIRED:
Any super bulky yarn you can meet gauge with. For the super bulky version I used Universal Yarns - Posh Alpaca (98 yds/100g) in the colour Birch. Since super bulky yarn can vary in thickness, I would say posh alpaca is similar in thickness to LB Thick & Quick. The pattern should work fine with a thicker yarn, but will be a more dense fabric (and could be more difficult to meet gauge).
YARDAGE REQUIRED:
note the yardage/weight varies between different yarns, so if you are using alternative yarns, make sure to calculate based on the yardage not the weight.
Adult large: ~58 grams/57 yards
Adult medium: ~52 grams/51 yards
Adult small: ~46 grams/45 yards
Child: ~41 grams/40 yards
Toddler: ~35 grams/34 yards
6-12 M: ~26 grams/25 yards
3-6 M: ~20 grams/19 yards
Newborn: ~14 grams/14 yards
Yardage is an approximation. This is based on standard hat length measurements but you are welcome to adjust to fit your head as needed. If you think you will need to add some length, make sure to add a little extra yardage.
EXTRA MATERIALS REQUIRED:
One stitch marker (BOR marker)
Scissors
Yarn needle
Measuring tape
Row counter is recommended!
Optional faux fur pom pom!
