Ridges Ponytail / Messy Bun Hat
Just what you need when you want to wear a hat but your hair is in a ponytail. The button band allows you to wear your ponytail high, low, or in between. Just undo a button wherever you want your ponytail to stick out. Also works for a “messy bun” - just undo two buttons instead of one.
Fingering yarn keeps the hat lightweight, perfect for jogging.
Difficulty: Beginner
This is an easy knit worked flat using row-by-row instructions. Seamless design means no need to sew parts together or pick up stitches. Most rows are simple stockinette stitch; this project goes quickly.
Skills required: Knit, purl, yarn over, knit 2 together.
Yarn selection: Fingering/ sock yarn, approximately 175 yards. This hat looks great in solids or tonals, but the simple design means that it can be a great showcase for variegated or hand-dyed yarns.
