A sweet and unique coaster design that is both classy in appearance and functional in use. These coasters are a satisfying and addictive make. Packaged up in a set of 4 or 6 these make for a delightful and thoughtful gift.

  • Recommended Yarn: DK/8 ply/Cat. 3 weight yarn ~8g/0.4Oz per coaster. Thinner Worsted yarns may also be suitable. Any fibre/yarn that is easy to wash and does not readily pill (such as cotton, cotton blends, easy wash wool, and non-pill acrylic).
  • Hook Size: Use yarn label instructions as a guide for selecting hook size. Swatch to determine the optimal hook size for your tension. Example projects were made with 4mm/G.
  • Coaster Size: Varies with chosen yarn and design variant, however approximate size: 11-13cm/4.25-5” in diameter.
  • Skill Level: Upper Intermediate. Special Stitch Instructions with photos are provided for Modified Star Stitch and Star Stitch.
  • Stitch Terminology: US.
  • Gauge: Specific gauge not required/not important for this item.
  • Pattern Synopsis: Constructed in the round, commencing with a circle. Texture results from BLO stitches (Rounds 2, 4, 5 and 6) and Star St. Instructions are provided for both a round and a starburst shaped design, the latter being quicker and easier to make as only one round of Star Stitch is required.

One design variant is available for free from my blog (and minus images and YouTube links that show the locations to pull through loops for the star stitches).
