Designed to mimic the insulating properties of a puffer vest, this henley-style vest is perfect for a warm layer underneath a jacket or outerwear when the temperature dips just a little.

The vest is constructed in the round to the armholes and then back and forth in rows. The texture pattern is easy to memorize and provides just enough challenge to keep things interesting. Pattern includes both written out and charted directions for the cables.

SIZES
0-6 mos (6-12 mos, 12-18 mos, 2-4 years, 4-6 years). Shown in 12-18 mos.

MATERIALS NEEDED
Yarn:
Malabrigo Yarn Mecha (100% merino; 130yds/119m per 100g skein): 2 (2, 3, 3, 4) skeins in Azul Fresco

Recommended needles (make sure to check gauge and change sizes if needed):
US #10 [6.0 mm] circular needle, 16” long
US #10 [6.0 mm] double-pointed needles, set of 4 or 5 (or preferred type of needles for small diameter knitting in the round)
US #10.5 [6.5 mm] circular needle, 16” long

Notions:
2 stitch markers, cable needle, waste yarn or stitch holders, yarn needle, 2 buttons (3/4” or 20 mm in diameter)

GAUGE
21 sts/ 22 rows = 4 in/10 cm in Textured Waves pattern on larger needles

Important Note: Make sure to check your gauge carefully, as skeins of this yarn can vary in thickness.

PATTERN NOTE
This pattern is a good one for the technique of working small cables without a cable needle. If you aren’t familiar with it, try searching online for “cabling without a cable needle” to find directions & videos.
