Ripple-Free Lie-Flat Granny Square Blanket
by Edie Eckman
If you’ve ever tried to make a giant granny square, you know the problem: it starts out fine, but then somewhere around Round 5, it starts to skew out of square. And then a few rounds later you notice it starts to ripple and won’t lie flat.
This pattern is the solution! It’s the classic granny square—but with tweaks to keep it straight, square and smooth. You’ll learn small but powerful adjustments that you can use with any big granny square, in any weight yarn.
Choose your favorite home decor colors, or use up stash yarn like the blanket pictured here.
This pattern uses U.S. crochet terminology. It has been professionally tech edited.
Gauge
Rnds 1-4 = 4” 10 cm square
