Rippling, a side to side knitted shawl
A shawl or shawlette knit from one side to the other in one piece. Keep knitting until you run out of yarn.
The edging is done as you go, that’s what I love about it.
A fun, easy knit, perfect for those one or two skeins of special fingering weight yarn or handspun. The shawl is started at one side and a combination of increases and decreases forms a graceful triangular/crescent shaped shawl. The shawl is worked in garter stitch with a small patterned border, reminiscent of rippling water. Just enough pattern to keep it interesting, but not complicated.
A complete list of abbreviations and a stitch glossary explaining the techniques used in the project are included.
Skill level: Advanced beginner to intermediate.
Sizes: The amount and weight of yarn you use will determine the finished size. These measurements are approximate.
400 yds of fingering weight yarn: After blocking; 46in wide and 13in deep.
800 yds of fingering weight yarn: After blocking; 76in wide and 21in deep.
Substitute yarn: Any fingering weight yarn can be used. I recommend using a larger needle size than recommended on the label for a loose gauge.
