River Idle
The River Idle played an important part in my teenage life; the gentle babbling waters providing a source of solace and calm. The pattern in these socks reminds me of the time I spent on Carr Bridge, watching the River Idle flowing away from me, rippling over the streaming river weed.
River Idle is knitted from the top down, starting with a crochet provisional cast-on and picot edge. The sock is worked with a lace border on the leg. The ripple lace pattern on the instep can also be used as an option to give a longer leg length. Information is included to allow adjustment of the length of the Eye of the Partridge slip-stitch heel flap for a good fit at the heel and in the gusset section.
The sock pattern includes both charts and written instructions for the lace. Instructions for construction, including the picot edge and slip-stitch heel are written.
