River Song
This is a cuff down sock with a slipped stitch heel flap.
The stitches from the cuff flow harmoniously into the cables, mirrored in the front and back of the leg. The pattern continues on to the instep and ends with a stockinette toe.
These socks were inspired by the family’s binge watching of Dr. Who over many weekends. The colour of the yarn I received to create a pattern reminded me of flowing water. Into the mix went my preference for cables and a bit of Dr. Who inspiration and thus the River Song socks were born. The cables intersect and flow, just like the Doctor’s and River’s timelines. Subplots of twisted cable stories run along the side.
These socks are in the medium difficulty category. An understanding of the basic concepts of cabling is recommended.
One 100g skein of fingering weight sock yarn will be sufficient to make a pair of M/L socks for the average woman’s foot.
