A trip down to the river has always soothed my soul, every season offering different colors and sounds. The view from the shore as the river rushes by, waves meandering around the rocks and willows, is the inspiration behind this cowl. The Riverbend Cowl features reversible curving cables that criss-cross along the edge of smooth garter stitch, reminiscent of those calming days spent at the river.

Materials:
Yarn: two skeins Plucky Knitter Primo Sport yarn, (75% Superwash Merino, 20% Cashmere, 5% Nylon; 275 yds/251 meters per 105 gram skein), colorway Earl Grey used for sample, knit in size A. Or approximately 550 (310) yds/502 (283) meters of a smooth, multi-plied sport weight yarn for size A (B) cowl.

Needles: US size 6/4 mm needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. Straight or 16”/40 cm circular knitting needle recommended for working flat. Note: gauge swatches should be blocked for most accurate measurements.

Gauge: 23 sts/36 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on US 6/4 mm needles.

Notions: cable needle, yarn needle, stitch marker, blocking supplies.

Sizes: Size A: 10”/25 cm wide, 58”/145 cm circumference. Size B: 10”/25 cm wide, 32”/80 cm circumference.

Pattern Notes: Cowl is worked flat, then the CO edge is joined to the BO edge using either a neat seam, or your preferred grafting method to form the cowl loop. The pattern includes two sizes: size A (longer, double loop cowl), and size B (shorter, single loop cowl), or the cowl can be modified by working additional or fewer repeats of Rows 1-16 if needed to accommodate any yardage difference, or to adjust the circumference of the cowl. The Riverbend Cable Chart only represents the 21 stitch/16 row repeat of the cable worked before the stitch marker on the RS rows of the cowl, and after the stitch marker on the WS rows of the cowl.
