Riverstone Merino Mittens
After knitting a few pairs of traditional Selbu mittens I received requests from friends to teach them how to make their own mittens.
So I set about designing a pattern that I thought would be fairly simple but still challenging enough for intermediate level knitters using some of our Light Worsted Merino ~ hand dyed yarns.
The Riverstone Merino Mittens is the result!
Using 3mm dpn’s or circulars gives these mittens a tighter fabric that will keep your hands warm. I personally like to use 5 ~ 3mm dpn’s.
There is only one size ~ women’s size small to medium and if you are a tight knitter please try your gauge with a larger size needle.
Recommended yarn is of course our Light Worsted Merino and I do sell kits on our website. www.riverstoneyarns.com but you can find suitable substitutes elsewhere.
You will need two colours ~ one dark, one light.
The darker background colour = approx. 150 yards
The lighter pattern colour = approx. 110 yards.
Happy knitting!
