Intermediate - This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Herringbone stitch pattern, decreases, mesh, color changes, and blocking techniques.
Notes from the Designer:
An inspirational pattern based on my favorite poem, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. This shawl is crocheted in the shape of an asymmetrical, right-leaning triangle and has three separate sections with alternating colors and stitch patterns.
- The original version was made with Alpaca Silk DK yarn and used two skeins of Ash (Color A) and three skeins of Tiffany (Color B).
- The updated sample shown used approximately 1,720 yds/1,573 m total: Color A: 441 yds/403 m, Color B: 567 yds/518 m, Color C: 356 yds/326 m, Color D: 217 yds/198 m, and Color E: 139 yds/127 m.
- The updated sample uses two strands held together throughout.
- Beginning chain DOES NOT count as stitch in stitch count of each row, unless otherwise noted.
- Pattern is worked from top down to smaller tip with decrease rows marked.
- Gauge is not crucial to this project, but will affect size and yardage used.
- In the original version, there are color changes in the first two sections. You can carry the colors up the sides or fasten off, whichever you prefer.
- To keep the Trellis Stitch Section from bunching or gathering, you may switch to the US Size I hook listed in the Hook section above.
