From book’s pattern description -

I wanted to design a thrown for a baby that moved away from the usual stereotypes associated with a project of this nature, so I decided to investigate the possibilities of playing with line and color in a geometric format…Inspiration was also drawn from the multi-colored gummed paper shapes given to young children to play with at nursery groups.  The addition of brightly colored outlines, which are embroidered onto circular shapes, and the fancy lazy daisy stitches add extra surfac texture.  A simple edging of garter stitch stripes completes this thrown.
