The Rockhound Collection is on sale — 30% off the Hat, Vest, and Pullover through Monday. No code needed.

Rockhound Hat is a one-skein cable hat with serious texture. Twisted ribbing at the brim flows into a sculptural cable body and a crown that echoes the motif all the way to the top.

Wear it folded for a classic fisherman, unfolded for a relaxed slouch, or pull the crown back slightly for a soft pixie point. Three looks, one pattern, one skein.

A natural companion to the Rockhound Pullover and Rockhound Vest.

Design Details

Three styling options are designed right into the hat so you can wear it your way:

  • Fisherman: Fold the brim for a warm, classic beanie with extra cozy depth
  • Slouchy: Leave brim unfolded for a retro, effortless fit
  • Pixie: Pull the crown back slightly for a soft, editorial point

Pattern Highlights

  • One-skein DK
  • Three built-in styling options: fisherman, slouchy, and pixie
  • Twisted ribbing brim with flowing cable body
  • Sculptural crown shaping that mirrors the motif
  • Three sizes: Kids, Adult S, Adult L

Construction Overview

Rockhound Hat is worked in the round from the brim to the crown. Beginning with twisted 1x1 ribbing, the hat transitions into a charted cable body worked in the round. The crown decreases are worked through the chart, maintaining the textured motif through the final shaping. The crown is closed by threading yarn through the remaining stitches and pulling tight.

Yarn Notes

Our sample was knit in Charlotte DK by Sugarplum Circus a 100% Fine Superwash Merino in the rich tonal shade “Maryjane.” This especially plump and springy yarn gives the cables incredible stitch definition and a satisfying, bouncy fabric.

We recommend a tonal or solid DK-weight yarn for best results. Variegated, striped, or heavily speckled yarns may compete with the textured motif and obscure the cable detail.
