A robin is not just for Christmas. If you sew the Santa hat on carefully, you can remove it after the festive season and extend the life of this little sweater considerably. Handy, given how much work goes into it.

Rockin’ Robin is a baby and toddler jumper knitting pattern for ages 0-6 months to 2-3 years, featuring a robin worked in intarsia across the front with a knitted applique wing and Santa hat sewn on to finish.

The sleeves are worked in a simple two-colour stripe, the hem and cuffs in a red garter border, and the shoulder opening fastens with buttons. Drop shoulder construction and seamed, this is a straightforward knit with a lot of character.

The pattern includes both a chart and full written row-by-row instructions for the intarsia panel, so it works whether you prefer to work from a chart or written instructions. If you prefer to omit the Santa hat entirely, the robin works beautifully as a year-round design.
