Description from pattern:
Roly-poly toys have been around for centuries and are still popular today. The toy itself can represent a doll, a well-known character, or an animal, but the general construction is almost always the same. The base is shaped like half a play ball which is weighted. When the toy is knocked over, it wobbles several times then stands up straight again. Now here are my knitted versions with a twist.
Push them and they wobble as usual. But in addition they can be rolled along the floor turning somersaults as they go, eventually stopping and finishing off with a wobble display. Much more entertaining than the stand-stills and guaranteed to amuse children and grown-ups alike. Not only that, just one knitted piece is required and the ‘weight’ is just a lump of Plasticine!

Yarn requirements: Oddments of bright colours for the body and middle sections. Oddments of white or pale pastel colours for the head section.

Stuffing: Only a small amount is required

Cardboard: For the base, about the same thickness as note pad backing pieces.

Glue: A quick drying glue such as all purpose UHU

Plasticine: Or any other non-hardening modelling clay. A 10g piece about one 3rd of 1oz is required for each Roly-Poly. If a weighing scale is not available, roll a piece of clay into a ball, to measure 2cm 3/4in in diameter.

Red Sewing Thread: For the mouth stitches
