The Roman Villa Socks take you on a walk around an ancient Roman Villa where you get to bring your knitting needles instead of your trowel to excavate the stunning details drawn from history! Roman Villas embodied the ideal of living well and were often built as multi-storey buildings with under-floor heating that many would still envy today. Decoration could be elaborate, with villas being completed with stunning mosaic floors, and walls decorated with beautiful frescos depicting landscapes, gardens, myths, gods, heroes, people, animals, household scenes and more.
These socks incorporate colours, textures, and stitch patterns that draw on the rich legacy of Roman Villas to create your own interpretation of wearable luxury!

Notes
These socks are worked in the round and use mosaic stitch and twisted stitch patterns.

Yarn requirements provide extra yarn in C5 to allow for longer foot length. Toes can be knit in contrast colour as shown, with C5, and can also be worked with stripes as in the heel flap depending on personal preference and remaining yarn amounts.

The toe of the sock can be finished with optional stripes in any colour pattern you desire but be careful to save the same amount of each colour for the second sock!

Socks can be worked using DPNs, Flexi-flips, or magic loop.
When working mosaic charts or small stripes, twisting the two colours in use at the end of each Round will prevent holes or gaps!

The stitch count for each section of the leg of this sock will be adjusted to fit the required number of stitches for each size. Stitch count will be adjusted as needed in the instructions for each section. There is also a table summarizing stitch counts in the pattern.
