Romance on the Rocks is a simply elegant garter stitch boomerang shawl. Super Silky fingering weight drapes beautifully and is accented with delicate rows of mohair. Use a monochromatic palette for a more delicate feel, or a bright and bold palette for a greater visual impact.

Size: 15 x 85”/ 38 x 216cm, or as desired.

Needles: US 5/ 3.75mm or size to obtain gauge; circular, at least 24”/ 60cm.

Gauge: 21 sts x 46.5 rows = 4”/ 10cm over garter stitch, lightly blocked.

Gauge is not crucial but differences will affect yardage and finished dimensions.

Yarn: fingering weight: 800 yards/ 734 meters; and lace weight: 50 yards/ 46 meters.

Notions: 1 removable stitch marker, tapestry needle.

Sample knit in: Emma’s Yarn Super Silky (80% Merino, 20% Silk; 400 yards/ 100g) in Himalayan Salt; and Marvelous Mohair (72% Mohair, 28% Silk; 459 yards/ 50g) in Himalayan Salt.

The beauty of this simple shawl is that the stitch count doesn’t matter. It’s included for reference only. If your stitch count is off, that’s okay; it won’t affect any of the directions, so don’t rip it out!
