This design takes its name from a beautiful town in the south of Spain, Ronda, known for, amongst other things, for being the only place in Spain where the “Goyescas” bullfights take place. I must say I am not in favor of this tradition, as I loathe animal abuse, but I can’t help but admit that I am greatly seduced by the aesthetics of the “trajes de luces”, the garments the wear for the “Goyescas”: garments that combine very contrasting colors and reclaim the aesthetics expressed all over so many paintings by brilliant master of Spanish painting, Francisco de Goya; the color contrast in the buttonhole line, it visually reminds me of the well known and famous “madroño”, an essential accessory in any goyesca garment.

Este diseño toma su nombre de un precioso pueblo del sur de España, Ronda, famoso, entre otras cosas, por ser el único lugar de España donde se celebran las corridas de toros “Goyescas”. Debo decir que no soy muy amiga de esta típica tradición, ya que detesto el maltrato animal, sin embargo no puedo dejar de reconocer que me seduce enormemente la estética de los trajes de luces que los toreros visten en las corridas de toros goyescas: trajes que combinan colores muy contrastados y recuperan la estética plasmada en tantas pinturas del genial maestro de la pintura Española, Francisco de Goya; el contrate de color en las lineas de ojales, me recuerda visualmente al conocido y famoso “madroño” complemento indispensable en toda vestimenta goyesca.
