Rondo
Named for the Esperanto word for “circle”, Rondo is a showstopping jacket with a hypnotizing cabled medallion on the back and an interesting construction.
Construction Overview
- The center back cable medallion is worked in short rows.
- The provisional cast on is invisibly grafted to the final live medallion stitches to create a circle.
- Stitches are picked up along four sides of the circle and decreased to form a square.
- Stitches are picked up along each side of the square to create a rectangular shape for the jacket back.
- Pocket linings are knitted and slipped onto holders.
- The two fronts are knitted, incorporating the pocket linings.
- Sleeves are knitted from the bottom up.
- All pieces are blocked and assembled.
- The front bands/lapels and pocket edgings are worked.
- Seams are sewn.
You’ll learn a lot as you have fun knitting this useful jacket.
