Ronnie's Hat & Scarf
This quirky hat and scarf combination uses shadow knitting to give interesting detail. Both hat and scarf are decorated with bobbles on the end of I-cord for a bit of fun!
This combination takes approx 100g in each of two shades. Ideally it is best to use two shades of the same wool, whether natural and undyed as in the North Ronaldsay version shown, or two dyed shades of the same type of wool or yarn. The size is to fit an ‘average’ woman, but using 4-ply wool with smaller needles makes is suitable for children and aran wool with larger needles makes is suitable for men.
The photographed version is made with grey and cream North Ronaldsay wool. the name of ‘Ronnie’ was selected because of this link to such a special native breed of British sheep. They are so cute!!!
A circular needle or set of double ended needles is required for the hat, straight needles for the scarf and double ended needles for the I-cord and bobbles. This pattern can be knitted with 3.75 mm needles if 3.5 mm is not available.
