Rook
50% of all proceeds from this and all of my patterns will be donated to Doctors without Borders for disaster relief during March.
Give your hands an extra bit of warmth on especially cold days with these textured mitts. Their long length and wrist-hugging ribbing make them ideal for under-heated offices, as well as an underlayer to bridge the gap between too-short coat jackets and mittens.
The repetitive ribbed lace pattern is easily memorized and soothing to work. It produces a checkered fabric reminiscent of both a chessboard and stone castle walls, which gives these mitts their name.
When worked up in an inexpensive superwash sock yarn, these mitts can be gifted without worry.
Part of the Little Gifts collection; four page PDF, with both charted and written instructions.
