Roosty Moorings

Along the coastline of Shetland and particularly on stoney beaches near villages you can find blocks of stone or concrete with metal eyes and chains embedded. These are mooring chains to tie your boat to so it doesn’t drift away with the tide.
As soon as these colours were put together they instantly put me in mind of some of the rusty but useful chains along the coast and on piers, I also enjoyed the excuse to go hunting and take notice of them.

This is a traditional style skull kep with motifs inspired by classic Fair Isle jumpers seen in archived pictures of workers around the coastline in Shetland.

One size fits all.
