This bowl has the organic feel of roots
digging into the earth. Use it to hold
loose change, knitting needles or simply
add peace and comfort to your home.

Size before felting: Measured lying flat,
approximately 13″ (33 cm) wide at the widest
point and 13 1/2″ (34 cm) tall. Note that this
does not match the measurements from the
gauge swatch. The warped nature of the
stitches, the extremely loose gauge and the
squishy nature of Brioche distort the size.

Size after felting: Approx 5″ (12.5 cm) wide and
6″ (15 cm) tall. Size will vary with yarn choice
and degree of felting.

Yarn: Paton’s Classic Wool Worsted 100% wool
194 yds (177 m)/ 100 g: 130 yds (120 m) each
of 2 contrasting colors. Sample used Sprout and
Navy Blue. See Page 2 for notes on yarn
choices.

Gauge: 7 stitches and 24 rounds (12 countable
rounds) to 4” (10 cm) in Brioche before felting. If
you use a different yarn, a loose tension is more
important than gauge.

Needles: Size US 11 (8 mm) 36” (91.5 cm)
Circular for magic loop, 2 circulars, DPNS or
Flexiflips or size needed for gauge. It is
recommended that you use a needle 2 or more
sizes larger than that recommended for the yarn.

Notions: Tape measure, darning needle.
Optionally 5 markers, some glass marbles or
decorative rocks and a table knife.

Difficulty: Intermediate: 2 color Brioche,
working in the round, I-Cord Bind-Off and felting.
