About the Design
Formerly TTL Mystery Shawl 2020
This year’s TTL Mystery Shawl is a two-color asymmetrical triangle. I recommend a solid or near solid yarn for both colors. I do not recommend variegated yarns for this pattern as they tend to hide the stitch patterns. I also recommend a lot of contrast between your two colors. For example a medium green and a medium blue would not be a good choice, but a light green and a darker blue would be just right.
The TTL Mystery Shawl 2020 may be worked in any weight yarn, but keep in mind that the heavier the yarn, the more yarn you will need. The sample shawl used approximately 400 yards per color, or two colors in Jill Draper Makes Stuff Ansel, a fingering-weight yarn. Be sure to allow extra. The amount of yarn needed will vary with slight differences in personal gauge, yarn weight, fiber, and brand (even within same yarn weight category).
Although this is a shawl, it is important to obtain gauge in order to avoid running out of yarn and to have your finished shawl match the size indicated. If you are using stitch markers between repeats, check the placement at the start of each chart because stitch counts for the repeats vary.
KAL Details
Please join the Fans of Through the Loops Ravelry group to participate in the KAL. You will find help, inspiration, and encouragement in the group. Please ask your questions in the group forums and not in private messages or emails. If you have a question, someone else will, too, and others will benefit from your question.
Use hashtag #TTLmysteryshawl20 when posting in social media.
PLEASE use a “spoiler” photo as the first photo on your Ravelry project page throughout the KAL and for one month following the release of the final clue. This is out of courtesy for other MKAL participants. A spoiler photo can be any image that does not show your shawl in progress. Feel free to use the official KAL image from the pattern page if you’d like.
You will receive one clue each week for 6 weeks. Each week I will start a new spoiler thread where you may post photos of your progress. The clues will be released on the following days. I will try to release them around midnight EDT. However there may be weeks when this is impossible and the clues will be released the following morning.
