The sample shown was crocheted with YarnArt Begonia (100% cotton, fingering weight) using a 2 mm crochet hook.

The pattern is equally suitable for Schachenmayr Catania Fine Solids and Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/4 Solids.

If you’d like an even airier fabric, simply substitute a finer yarn. To preserve the intended size, adjust the stitch count in the first round while keeping it even.

After Round 4, measure the diameter of the circle and multiply it by π (3.14) to estimate the finished circumference. The hat is intended to have a small amount of negative ease for a secure fit.

Length is easy to modify by stopping earlier or adding an extra stitch repeat when using finer yarn.
