The Roesbuds & Lace Cowl is part of The Rosebuds & Lace Suite, consisting of matching hat, cowl, and fingerless mitts.

This is a neck warmer style cowl that hugs the neck without constricting, and can easily be adjusted to fit anyone by adding or subtracting some of the ribbing on the back and sides.

It uses approximately 180 yards of a light worsted yarn and size U.S. 8 (5.0 mm) needles to get a gauge of approximately 20 stitches for 4 inches.

The central motif has a scalloped edging achieved by using a variation on the Old Shale lace pattern. Then cabled rosebuds are scattered, with a small central section of lace at the top.
The sides and back of the cowl are done in K2/P2 ribbing, which gives it a nice fit at the back of the neck.

This is finished with a short row shawl collar that comes from the center of the motif, giving it almost a sweetheart style neckline. And instructions are given for adjusting the number of short rows used in the collar to get the length you prefer.

The pattern has a chart and completely written out instructions for the central motif section.
