The word ‘rospigg’ comes from Old Swedish rosbyggiar, meaning ‘living in Roden’. However, rospigg is also an alternative name for the type of boat known as a roslagsskuta. When designing this pattern I was inspired by ordinary rag rugs. Simple graphic motifs on a soapscrubbed floor; an everyday task carried out with care. I can still remember the smell of that firm, yellow, greasy soap when granny stirred it into the washing water. Here I have combined it with the dull brown earth, the dark waters and a few lines of reeds. This is a classic fisherman’s sweater and suits all kinds of boats and adventures.

Method:
the sweater is worked from the bottom up with as few seams as possible. Rounds begin) at the right side. The sleeves are worked separately and then knitted together with the body; the armhole stitches of the body and sleeves are grafted together.
