Here the simple, graphic motif of the sweater Rospigg has ended up on a pair of hardwearing mittens with long cuffs that give extra warmth round the wrists when worn either single or folded over.

These mittens are worked in two colourways: Late Summer and Winter.

Method: the mittens are knitted in rounds from the bottom up. The thumb gusset is knitted at the side following the chart and
the thumb is worked in the same pattern.

SIZES: Small (Large)

Yarn quantities: 45(50)g/1½(1¾)oz (A), 20(25)g/¾(¾)oz (B), 20(25)g/¾(¾)oz (C), 7(7)g/¼(¼)oz (D)

Yarn: Strikkegarn (knitting yarn) from Tant Kofta; 50g/1¾oz/110m/120yds

Finished measurements: 29(32)cm/11½(12½)in long, 9(10.5)cm/3½(4¼)in wide

Shade: Late Summer: Silver (A), Horse Chestnut (B), Mylla (C), Pink on Silver (D)

Shades: Winter: Silver (A), Mylla (Earth) (B), Mörk Sjö (Dark waters) (C), Vass (Reeds) (D)

Needles: 3mm (UK 11, US 2.5) DPNs for ribbing and 3.5mm (UK 9/10, US 4) for pattern.

Tension (gauge): 24 sts × 26 rows on 3.5mm (UK 9/10, US 4) DPNs in pattern = 10 × 10cm (4 × 4in)

Other: markers, spare yarn to hold the stitches of the thumb gusset, darning needle for fastening off ends
