Rossini is a rectangle shawl or cowl with just knit and purl stitches that create a three-dimensional pattern. It has two different beautiful sides.

Named after a famous Italian opera composer with a special sense of humour its structure has a steady rhythm that carries you along while knitting.

Shawl size 2: 41 cm/16 ¼“ width x 144 cm/56 ¾” length
Shawl size 3: 31 cm/12 ¼“ width x 192 cm/75 ½” length

Cowl size: 70 cm/27 ½“ circumference x 40 cm/15 ¾” height

YARN
Shawl size 1: 4 skeins Nature’s Luxury On Stage or 1200 meters/1310 yards of Sport Weight Yarn or yarn that gives you gauge
Shawl sizes 2 and 3: 3 skeins Nature’s Luxury On Stage or 800 meters/875 yards of Sport Weight Yarn or yarn that gives you gauge
Cowl size: 2 skeins Nature’s Luxury On Stage or 420 meters/460 yards of Sport Weight Yarn or yarn that gives you gauge

Each knitter knits differently, therefore yardage is an estimate.

GAUGE
24 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4” in stockinette stitch with needle 3.50 mm/US4

24 sts x 28 rows = 1 repeat of pattern B, 10 cm/4” x 8 cm/3 ¼“ with needle 3.50 mm/US4, just very slightly blocked to maintain the 3 D effect of the stitch pattern

A different gauge will affect size and yardage needed.

NEEDLES
3.50 mm/US4 circular needle 60 cm/24” or needle size to get gauge
4.50mm/US7 needle for BO

Tapestry needle, 1 stitch marker (for cowl version only)
