Roure (pronounced /ˈrow.ɾə/), in my husband’s native language, means oak. In the forests of this beautiful corner of the Mediterranean where we live, oaks and holm oaks abound, so I imagine it was only a matter of time before this mighty and splendid tree took root in my patterns.

When you are new to knitting, the idea of knitting a pair of socks may sound a little intimidating at first. No worries! I’m here to walk you through the process step-by-step.

Roure socks are a classic cuff down, with a reinforced heel-flap and short row heel turn.
The pattern differs for the right and left leg. Follow the instructions for both legs, unless otherwise stated. If you want to have a mirror image colorwork pattern, you can work the charts from left to right.
Please, read the whole pattern carefully before you start knitting. As the pattern gives detailed calculations for all sizes, I recommend that you highlight all numbers related to your size in order to have an easy overview of the pattern.

Yarn: Any sock or fingering yarn, at least 400 yards/365 meters

Needles: 2,5 mm / US 1.5, 24” - 32” circulars or 4 dpns
Note, the pattern is written for magic loop technique, but it can be easily adapted to dpns or other sock knitting technique.
