PATTERN INFORMATION
The pattern was first published in July 2010. This is version 2, published in June 2023.
Perfect for little ballerinas, Ruffle Skirt is seamless and is worked top down, starting from the waistband with an elastic casing. The skirt is shaped with increases and the ruffles - in the same or contrasting colours - are added at the end.
Sizes
6 months (12 months, 18 months, 2 years, 4 years, 6 years, 8 years, 10 years)
Finished waist circumference: 49 (50.5, 52, 53, 54.5, 57, 60, 62.5) cm/19.5 (20.25, 20.75, 21.25, 21.75, 23, 24, 25) in. Finished length: 22 (23.5, 25, 27.5, 30.5, 34.5, 38.5, 42.5) cm/8.75 (9.5, 10, 11, 12.25, 13.75, 15.5, 17) in.
Shown in size 2 years (light blue) and 12 months (blue and grey).
Gauge (blocked)
Stockinette stitch: 22 sts and 30 rnds = 10 cm/4 in, with larger needle(s).
Yarn
Smooth DK or sport weight yarn that will give you the correct gauge: cotton, cotton-acrylic blends, wool. Light blue skirt was made in recycled cotton (100% cotton, approx. 110 m/121 yds per 50 g), darker blue and grey skirt was made in James C. Brett Cotton On Denim DK (50% cotton, 50% acrylic, 145 m/158 yds per 50 g, colours 25 and 26).
For single colour skirt:
310 (330, 380, 410, 450, 510, 610, 680) m/345 (365, 420, 455, 495, 565, 675, 750) yds.
For skirt with contrast colour ruffles:
Main Colour: 190 (210, 230, 260, 300, 360, 430, 500) m/
210 (235, 255, 290, 330, 400, 475, 550) yds.
Contrast Colours 1, 2 and 3, for ruffles in 3 different
colours: 40 (40, 50, 50, 50, 50, 60, 60) m/45 (45, 55, 55, 55, 55, 70, 70) yds each.
OR
Contrast Colour, for 3 ruffles in the same colour: 120 (120, 150, 150, 150, 150, 180, 180) m/135 (135, 165, 165, 165, 165, 200, 200) yds.

Skills Needed
Long tail cast on, knitting in the round, increases,
decreases, picking up stitches.
