Ruffled Capelet
“The only thing I do not thoroughly like is, that she seems to be sitting out of doors, with only a little shawl over her shoulders—and it makes one think she must catch cold.”
—Mr. Woodhouse, Emma
Emma’s father feared every threat to a person’s constitution and would definitely approve of this cunning little capelet as a shield against evening chills and afternoon breezes. The cape features three simple ruched ruffles and a repeating lace motif.
NOTES
• This capelet begins with a provisional cast-on at the neck edge and is worked back and forth to the lower edge. Ruffles are worked along the purl bumps in the Cable and Trellis chart. The provisional cast-on is removed and the collar is worked.
• A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
• The capelet shown used almost all of one skein of MC. Consider purchasing an extra skein as insurance.
