Ruperto
The Ruperto Scarf is one of eleven engaging patterns from Marlisle: A New Direction in Knitting by Anna Maltz – a beautiful, 160 page, full-colour, litho-printed book packed with photographs, knowledge, anecdotes and opinion to introduce you to the technique of Marlisle. It features 22 interesting yarns from dedicated small-producers while celebrating the breadth of our knitting community. Available from www.annamaltz.com and friendly yarn shops around the world. Launch date 10 February, 2018.
The Ruperto Scarf is long enough to be worn wrapped around your neck once or doubled with both ends pulled through, depending on how you like to style your neckwear. The stitch pattern was carefully designed to make the fabric reversible - not the same on both sides, but interesting on both sides. This scarf is knitted in the round, lengthwise, thanks to a steek section that is cut once all the knitting is complete. It is the perfect project to introduce you to steeking as the other perk of the steek is that it alleviates the need to worry whether you have a twist in your circular knit. It simply doesn’t matter if the scarf is worked as an unintentional helix, as you’ll be cutting it in half any way (which will undo any untoward twists and turns).
