Berets are stylish and tres chic. This beret has a wavy twist due to the eyelet stitch pattern, and resembles more a flower than a disc. It is easy to modify thanks to its top-down construction, and gains a polished look from the tubular bind-off at the end.

This is a beret-style hat that is a companion in spirit to the Russell Square mitts. It uses a number of the same elements – seed stitch ribbing, eyelets, garter stitch, and soft chevrons – but in different ways, and does not duplicate the stitch patterns. Knitting both in the same yarn will give a sense of unity to the hat & mitts set, but not bore the knitter by making them knit the same stitches over again.
