When the rain starts falling, sometimes it just comes as a steady pour in perfect vertical columns. Other times, Kaatru (breeze/wind) sways this column and you get a slant! This slanting rain is called Saaral in Tamizh. This is when we run around the house trying to close any open window through which the water might sneak in! Last thing you want is to be mopping instead of enjoying the rain This square mimics the slanting rain. The front post treble is used to creates the image of saaral. The stitches are not symmetrical on a given side, but all sides are symmetrical – meaning the front post trebles are towards one corner and this leads to the square having a tilt. Blocking this square will fix this tilt and so does joining it at the end to the other squares.

Left handed crocheters do take note, your squares will slant towards the opposite direction! The instructions remain the same, although the finished square will look a little different.
