Originally designed for the 2018 Mad Science club for String Theory Yarn Co., Sagittarius A is a circular shawl inspired by black holes. The center is simple Stockinette stitch in the round, and the wedges on the outside are shaped using short rows.

The entire shawl is knit--the short row sections are in garter stitch. No purling required!

I’ve used a fingering weight Merino yarn as the main color and a silk-stainless steel yarn for the contrast, but you can use any two yarns--think mohair and merino, a yarn with some sparkle and a yarn without, or two colors of the same base!

Approximate yarn requirements:
800 yards of MC (fingering weight Merino in the sample)
400 yards of CC (silk-stainless in the sample)
