Sailor Sweater has a simple silhouette with the shoulder line pushed forward and a distinctive decrease detail at the cuffs. The sweater is worked from the top down. First the neck rib edge is worked in the round, then short rows are worked to shape the neckline and then the work is continued in the round until the total shoulder width is achieved. After this the work is divided for front and back and each section is worked back and forth separately to the bottom of the armhole. Then the sections are joined again, and the body is worked in the round to the hem. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up and knitted along the armholes and short rows are worked to shape the top of the sleeve. After this the sleeves are worked in the round on a circular needle to the cuffs, which is finished with a wide rib with decreases along the outside.
