Sailor's Warning
When there’s a red sky in the morning, slip on this cozy reversible cowl to brave the blustery weather. The Sailor’s Warning cowl is reminiscent of a bright sunrise and features reversible cabled rope rigging. Cowls are knit flat and seamed, or the pattern can be knit as a scarf with additional skeins.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate: Skills include casting on, knitting and purling, basic reversible cables, seaming, and weaving in ends.
Variations:
- Small Cowl: 10” wide, 20” loop
- Large Cowl: 10” wide, 40” loop
- Scarf: 10” wide, 60” long
Yarn:
197-591 yards worsted or aran yarn
Suggested: Universal Yarn Classic Shades (100 g, 197 yards = 180 m), 1 skein for small cowl, 2 skeins for large cowl, 3 skeins for scarf.
Sample is shown in small cowl in color Natural Glow (731).
Tools:
- U.S. size 9 (5.5 mm) needles
- 6 stitch markers
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
